Heavy-Weight Sound Absorbing Fabrics
Sound Shock®️ is a dense sound absorbing flame retardant fabric made from 100% cotton fibers. This heavy-duty brushed material is woven from plain canvas and abraded on both sides. This process gives the fabric a uniformly soft, fleecy surface with the same finish on both the front and back face, making it reversible.
Because of its soft porous surface, Sound Shock®️ is ideal to absorb noise and light, therefore it can be used as the primary fabric choice for theater curtains or alternatively as a thick curtain backing for muting stage noises. Many other applications include sound dampening and acoustical drapery for sound studios, recording and film studios as well as theater masking curtains and backdrops, sound-deadening room dividers and wall lining curtains at movie theaters, discos, restaurants, and commercial spaces. Try it on a multi-layered room partition curtain for even more impressive results.
NOTE: Color on Sound Shock will fade over time if exposed to direct sunlight.
This fabric is also lab tested and rated for its acoustical properties:
Noise Reduction Coefficient NRC: 0.98 *
Sound Absorption Average SAA: 0.95 *
*Pleated with 100% fullness, nap down.
SoundShock®️ meets the minimum requirements of flame resistance established by the California State Fire Marshall for products identified in Section 13115, California Health and Safety Code.
NFPA 701
